Photos of NorwayThe first part of my trip was spent on vacation in Norway. (Opportunities like this don't come up every day, after all!) My plane trip took me from Saskatoon to Oslo, Norway; the first stop in my trip.
After spending a full day in Oslo, it was time to see the countryside. I took the train from Oslo, heading west towards Bergen. My first stop was in the tiny village (really just a train station) of Myrdal. Myrdal is very high in the mountains, and is actually quite cold most of the year. It makes for some wonderful scenery, though!
The primary reason for stopping in Myrdal is to take the train trip down through the mountains, dropping a couple of thousand feet (!) down to the town of Flam, which is right in one of the easternmost valleys of the Norwegian fjords.
After Flam, a cruise boat (or the train if you prefer) takes you from Flam to the coastal city of Bergen.
After spending some time in Bergen, it was time to travel back to Oslo, and then south through Copenhagen and Germany, to reach Delft, Netherlands, where I would be working. These next pictures show the harbor/waterway through Copenhagen. The train drives right on to a ferry to get across!
